Welcome to our Coaches Corner, a starting point for Colwyn Bay RFC coaches who want to access information about coaching, refereeing, available courses and supporting coaching resources. This material is provided to make your role as coach easier to perform.
Once you have successfully completed a coaching course you will need to register at the WRU Game Locker site and once your application has been approved, you will be able to access a wealth of additional coaching resources.
Being a good coach is totally different to being a good player. Many mini and junior coaches have played rugby themselves, some at a very high level. Regardless of your playing experience the children and young people who join Colwyn Bay RFC deserve the highest standards of coaching.
Nobody should be coaching unless they are qualified through a Welsh Rugby Union Coaching Course, or are being directly supervised by a qualified coach. The course schedule for this season is available from the links on this page.
It is Colwyn Bay RFC policy that head coaches of each age group are qualified to the appropriate level of their age group i.e. WRU tag rugby for under 6 to under 8 and WRU Level 1 for all other age groups. All club volunteers who are in contact with children under 18 should also have completed a Safeguarding Young People child protection course, which is valid for 3 years.
All Tag, WRU courses, & Child Protection courses will be paid for by the Club providing they have been pre-approved by the Club Junior Chairman with a commitment to coach for at least 2 seasons.
